Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT)

We are working with the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) to raise awareness about retinoblastoma amongst the optical community. Babies and young children will not be able to tell you if they are having problems with their vision, so as a optical practice knowing the signs is crucial for saving sight, eyes and ultimately, lives.

Vision screenings for schools

Working with local eye care professionals in the community, we assist schools by offering vision screenings for their pupils. The vision screenings give us an opportunity to raise awareness for the need for regular eye examinations, good eye health and the impact vision has on children. Results from the screenings allows us to recommend a visit to an optician if any anomalies are discovered, to encourage regular eye examination if the child has not yet had one or to continue with their regular appointments.

Why do we do this? We know the impact vision has on a child's education, overall health and well-being. It is our duty to provide this message to parents, children, their school and community.

We'd love to partner with more ECPs so we can provide more vision screenings. Contact us today to discuss a vision screening at a school in your local community.

Fundraising and sponsorship

Throughout the year we run fundraising events. This year we raised money for Vision Aid Overseas Support a School initiative through a go karting day. It was a great success and we raised £5000. We have also supported ABDO College students in raising money for Vision Care for Homeless People where we sponsored a race during their event. The decathlon raised £2,846 for the charity.

We hope to add more fundraising events to our calendar for 2020/2021. Watch this space...
